brand story
Marco Boats was founded with a simple yet ambitious vision: to create boats that stand up to the toughest conditions while delivering outstanding performance on the water. Originally established by Graham Ransom, a seasoned boat builder with experience at both Fyran Boats and Ramco Boats, Marco Boats was born out of Graham's dedication to craftsmanship and durability. After years of crafting boats for other renowned names, Graham was inspired to start his own company, creating Marco Boats.
Wondering why we’re called Marco Boats instead of Mako Boats? The name Marco is not only a nod to his Ramco roots but also a reflection of Graham’s vision to blend strength, and exceptional quality in each boat. After years of building a strong reputation, Graham retired, passing the torch to Bryan and Helen Horne. With decades of engineering expertise from their company, Horne Engineering, Bryan and Helen have continued the Marco Boats legacy, joined by their son, Dayne, who brings a lifelong passion for boating. Together, the Horne family has committed to refining the reliable hull designs Graham developed over two decades, adapting them to meet the needs of New Zealand’s boating community.

At Marco Boats we say we are “engineered to perform”
but what does that mean for you?
Performance can be measured in many ways. Here are a few we focus on:
on water performance:
Many manufacturers use gimmicks to bend the rules of physics, but at Marco Boats, we stick to the basics.
Our hulls feature a variable deadrise of 17 degrees, paired with a sharp bow to cut the seas, and a moderate chine design to reduce thumping in choppy waters. This means a smoother, quieter ride for an impressive on-water experience.
We’ve also added deep hull stringers with keel bars and multiple bulkheads to increase stability and rigidity. This gives the ride and handling that seasoned pros love and even novice boaters appreciate.
lower maintenance:
Saltwater can be tough on boats, but at Marco Boats, we build with durability in mind. We aim to make our boats last over 10 years with minimal maintenance.
How? For one, our hull design eliminates hard-to-clean corners that can trap salt and grime. Plus, we’ve moved away from traditional underfloor fuel tanks, which can collect moisture and corrode. Instead, our boats feature safe, easy-to-maintain tanks.
It’s all part of our commitment to building boats that are easier to own.
usability:
We understand that usability makes a difference when you’re on the water.
Our boats are designed to solve common frustrations, like hard-to-fill fuel tanks and cramped spaces. With Marco Boats, you get fuel tanks that fill at a great angle, making refueling easy and fast. Plus, our clever layouts maximize space, so you’re never crowded.
We also offer custom options, like our folding bait systems, outriggers, and rod holders—all developed based on feedback from real boaters.
Because usability isn’t just about function; it’s about making every experience on the water better.
customisation: we listen
While other manufacturers may pretend to listen and then steer you in the direction of a standard option, we really listen, we question, and then we listen again.
Once we really understand what you are trying to achieve, we then work with you to discuss possible solutions, pros and cons, how things could be done simpler or more cost-effectively, and then we give you the time to come to an informed decision.
If your looking to build a custom boat, why not let us have a listen to your ideas at Marco Boats.
